Tour code: OPTCEBCTY
Duration: 6 hours
Pick up: 9 AM
Highlights: Magellan’s Shrine & Lapu-Lapu Monument, Alegre Guitar Factory, Magellan’s Cross, Basilica del Santo Niño, Heritage of Cebu Monument, Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House, San Pedro Calungsod Shrine, Lunch
Discover the island province of Cebu, listed as one of the best islands in the world by luxury travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler and prestigious travel company Big 7 Travel, with this day tour of two of its cities… the capital city which is also named Cebu, and the neighboring City of Lapu-Lapu. We begin the day with a visit to Mactan Shrine, the site of the Battle of Mactan that witnessed the death of Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan at the hands of Chief Lapu-Lapu on April 27, 1521. The site hosts two important landmarks dedicated to the two key figures in the historic battle… Magellan’s Shrine & Lapu-Lapu Monument. Afterwards we proceed to Alegre Guitar Factory, a pioneer in the guitar manufacturing business, which takes pride in its guitars made from indigenous wood and shell ornaments. Here we can witness up close the production of handmade export-quality guitars. Next, we make our way to Cebu City to feast on a delightful buffet lunch. We then view Magellan’s Cross, an important relic that signifies the birth of Christianity in the Philippines. Located a few steps away is the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño which houses the country’s oldest Catholic relic… the Santo Niño de Cebu, a gift of Ferdinand Magellan and Father Pedro de Valderrama to the wife of Rajah Humabon of Cebu upon their arrival in the Philippines in 1521. We also visit The Heritage of Cebu Monument and Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House before making our way San Pedro Calungsod Shrine. Born in 1654 in the territory of Cebu, Pedro Calungsod suffered religious persecution and martyrdom in Guam in 1672. San Pedro Calungsod is widely venerated as the patron saint of the Philippines, Guam, Cebu, the Filipino youth, altar boys, and overseas Filipino workers. Rolling tour of Colon Street, Fuente Osmeña Circle, and Cebu Provincial Capitol. After the tour, transfer back to your hotel.

Highlights: Sirao Flower Garden, Temple of Leah, Tops Lookout, Magellan’s Cross, Basilica del Santo Niño, Heritage of Cebu Monument, Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House, San Pedro Calungsod Shrine, Lunch
Get ready for a fun-filled day in some of the most Instagramable spots in Cebu. Located around 17 kilometers from Cebu City, Sirao Flower Garden is an 8,000-square-meter piece of uphill land filled with colorful blooms. Unlike Amsterdam’s famous tulips, the highlight of Sirao is the Celosia flower which fully blooms in October. Sirao features other colorful flora, like Hyacinths and Sunflowers. Here we will also find selfie corners, play houses, fountains, and windmills resembling the fields of Amsterdam. We then make our way to Temple of Leah, a majestic structure that, like India’s great Taj Mahal, is a symbol of undying love. Temple of Leah is Cebuano businessman Teodorico Adarna’s gesture of love to his late wife Leah Albino-Adarna, life partner for 53 years who perished due to lung cancer. Teodorico and Leah are the grandparents of Ellen Adarna, a famous actress in the Philippines. The temple is made up of 24 chambers that house an art gallery, museum, among others, dotted with life-size statues of Roman gladiators, lions, and angels. Wide stone steps give everyone access to the portico and the lobby where a 10-foot brass statue of Leah is placed. Next, we proceed to Tops Lookout. At a height of 610 meters, it’s a great place to enjoy a panoramic view of Cebu City and the nearby Mactan Island and Olango Island. After a hearty lunch, we make our way back to Cebu City to view Magellan’s Cross, an important relic that signifies the birth of Christianity in the Philippines. PRIVATE TOUR WITH SHARED RIVER CRUISE
Tour code: OPTCEBTAG
Duration: 7 hours + 2 hours ferry per way
Pick up: 5 AM for Cebu City hotels, 4:30 AM for Mactan hotels
Highlights: Blood Compact Shrine, Baclayon Church & Museum, Loboc Loay River Cruise with buffet lunch, Loay Backyard Industries, Clarin Ancestral House, Man-Made Mahogany Forest, Tarsier encounter, Chocolate Hills
Explore Cebu’s neighboring island of Bohol with this day tour from Cebu. See the Chocolate Hills, old churches, and the cute Tarsier, a curious primate with enormous eyes. Get ready to explore the breathtaking countryside of Bohol. We visit the Blood Compact Shrine which honors the Sandugo or the blood compact between Bohol’s Datu Sikatuna and Spanish explorer Miguel Lopez de Legazpi. Sandugo is considered as the first treaty of friendship between two different races, religions, and civilizations. We then proceed to Baclayon Church. Originally built out of coral stones and cemented using the white of over millions of eggs, this church which is located facing the sea holds religious relics dating back to the early 16th century. Baclayon Church was declared as a National Cultural Treasure by the National Museum of the Philippines in 2010. Next, enjoy a delightful dining experience aboard the Loboc Loay River Cruise where lunch is served while the floating restaurant traverses the length of the jade green colored Loboc River, passing through lush foliage and towering trees. Enjoy an engaging cultural show performed by the local community. We then check out the backyard industries of Loay. This vibrant town not only lives on tourism but also on metalcrafts and handicrafts. Learn the laborious process of making roofing materials from dry nipa leaves and metalworking, where the practices have remained fairly unchanged since the townspeople first started. Witness the traditional way of handcrafting a slab of metal into a variety of tools and weapons, with nothing but the sweat of the artisans and their dedication towards the art. Tourists can even delight in asking for a bolo or machete of their choice to be made for them, as well as try their hand at making and designing their own! Afterwards, we visit Clarin Ancestral House – the museum home of the Clarin family, a prominent family of politicians from Bohol. Afterwards, we pass by the Man-Made Mahogany Forest, a two-kilometer stretch of dense forest seemingly guarding the road on both sides. The trees were planted by local volunteers in the middle of the last century in an effort to reverse the destruction caused by kaingin, a form of slash and burn agriculture that decimated the original forest. Afterwards, prepare to meet the unofficial mascot of Philippine tourism that is the Philippine tarsier (Carlito syrichta), an endangered animal endemic to Bohol. The Tarsier species is believed to be about 45 million years old. They measure around 4-5 inches with large eyes and tails longer than their bodies. Tarsiers are nocturnal and spend their days sleeping on tree branches. We also visit the famous Chocolate Hills — over a thousand haycock-shaped hills that turn into color brown during summer. A true wonder of nature and a sight to behold! After the tour, transfer back to Cebu then back to your hotel.
IMPORTANT: As Tarsiers are usually resting during daytime, please observe silence at the Tarsier Conservation Area. Do not feed the animals and do not use flash photography. Let’s respect animals and their natural habitat whenever we do wildlife interactions.

WHALE SHARK ENCOUNTER TOUR
Fun fact: Whale sharks are filter feeders which cannot bite nor chew. Instead, they mostly sieve plankton through their gills for nourishment. When feeding, their mouths can stretch over one meter wide.

PRIVATE TOUR
Tour code: OPTCEBWHL
Duration: 10 hours
Pick up: 3 AM

Get ready for an unforgettable life experience as we go underwater to swim with the Whale sharks that call the town of Oslob their home. You will need to wake up bright and early for this adventure as hotel pick up time is at 3 AM. The trip starts with a scenic three-hour drive along the Southern Cebu coastline. Whale sharks (Rhincodon typus) are the world’s largest fishes, which can grow up to 40 feet long and weigh an average of 20 tons. Whale sharks are carnivorous, but they don’t pose any threat to humans – they filter plankton through their enormous mouths while swimming on the surface. Swimming with Whale sharks is a unique wildlife interaction that will leave memories to last a lifetime. After the Whale shark encounter, swim and marvel at the amazing Tumalog Falls then enjoy brunch which will be served in a local restaurant. On the way back to Cebu, rolling tour of the historic quarters of Baluarte, Cuartel, Boljoon Church, and finally Carcar Shoe Expo.
IMPORTANT: The Whale shark encounter tour in Oslob provides a larger source of income and employment to a town that historically has a high unemployment rate and also a knock-on effect for the entire economy of Cebu. It also encourages local and foreign visitors alike to advocate for the preservation of Whale sharks and helps to end the hunting of these gentle giants. Furthermore, marine biologists are present to monitor water activities. Please maintain at least 5 meters distance when swimming with Whale sharks. Do not touch, kick, ride, or chase a Whale shark. Don’t block its path. Do not use sunblock lotion and flash photography. Let’s respect animals and their natural habitat whenever we do wildlife interactions.

Once we reach the Falls, you can swim in the cool water pools surrounded by lush green forests. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant. After the tour, transfer back to your hotel.
